Common questions
When is the best time to plant? +
Spring (after last frost, typically mid-May) and early fall (September) are the best windows. Both give roots time to establish before extreme heat or hard freeze. We deliver throughout the growing season.
How much sun does each plant need? +
Each product page lists exact sun requirements (full sun, part sun, or shade). Match the plant to your yard's actual conditions, not what you wish it had โ the wrong sun is the #1 reason plants fail in Minnesota.
Do I need to wrap or protect my plants for winter? +
Most plants in our store are fully zone-3 or zone-4 hardy and need no winter protection once established. Newly planted shrubs benefit from a 3" mulch ring for their first winter. Evergreens in windy spots can use burlap their first year.
Can you install these for me? +
Yes โ Three Timbers Landscape Services handles full installs across the Twin Cities. We can dig, plant, mulch, and stake everything for you. Request a free consultation.
